The Road User Charge is a payment for the use of the main state and regional roads of Latvia, in order to facilitate their maintenance and development, as well as to promote the use of vehicles more friendly to the environment.
The charge should be paid for the use of the main and regional State motor road sections specified in Law (except for crossing them, including on roundabouts) by the following heavy goods vehicles or compositions:the heavy goods vehicles the laden weight of which exceeds 3000 kilograms;the compositions of the heavy goods vehicles the laden weight of which exceeds 3500 kilograms.The user charge shall be paid as for a composition of the heavy vehicles, provided that the laden weight of a towing vehicle exceeds 3500 kilograms. If the laden weight of the towing vehicle exceeds 3000 kilograms but is less than or equal to 3500 kilograms, the user charge shall only be paid for the towing vehicle
